Tis The Reason For The Season

Long, long ago, in a far away land, my mother and father labored over a task of love for their children, of which there are 5. How my mother got my dad to work on ceramics, I will never know. But I am so happy he did. This is a true labor of love and something my family treasures. We only see it once a year, but the memories and thoughts and good wishes it brings lasts the whole year.

Thank you, mom and dad.
I love you.

  1. Oh it is a lovely set. I did a Nativity Set for my Hubby before we were married. I'm sure your folks put lots of love and time into your set. What a great family heirloom. This year Mary, Joseph and the donkey are traveling through our house...(I got the idea from a website that I follow), and our son is loving it! Helps keep us all focused! Merry Christmas to you and yours, and thanks for sharing. ~Becky

  2. Aw so sweet! Randomly, this reminds me of the entire silicone mold set I purchased for a nativity scene that I made out of soap over a decade ago. I sold the molds for space reasons and have been kicking myself ever since.

  3. Oh Becky, I love that idea! We have a hard time with the kitties jumping up and knocking stuff over. I think everything is safe.

It seems everytime I try to make room for something, I need it the next week. I could for sure be a hoarder! But a soap Nativity is something I would love, in a nice pine or cinnamon. I made the beeswax ornaments yesterday, scented in pine.

Yes, mom, I have all the pieces. I did have to glue the ox's ear back on today, but he is the only broken one.

  8. Aroma Beauty, I am blessed with a great family. We may not have had all the money in the world but we had everything we needed and plenty of love and family time.
Carl, I do treasure this gift of love. I keep trying on the pictures, they are fun to take.

  9. What a nice post, Michelle. You always write from the heart :) My granddaddy (long deceased) made something simliar as your Dad did, but he carved it out of wood. I remember Mom always setting up her Dads wooden Nativity scene, come Christmas. It was so special and the wood smelled like Christmas to me. I would carefully pick up each carved piece and trace the carving lines with my finger. Never knew my granddad
